The moment is finally here!

We are proud to now offer the ‘tap to pay’ feature on all our debit and credit cards! Tap-to-pay is a form of contactless payment that lets you pay by holding your card or device near a payment terminal. Instead of inserting a card or entering a PIN, you simply "tap" your payment method on the reader. It's fast, simple, and secure.

Can I get a Tap Pay card?

Yes! You can request a ‘style change’ and receive a card in the mail (typically takes 5-7 business days) or have a new card printed in-branch.

How much does a Tap Pay card cost?

You can request a ‘style change’ and receive the card in the mail or get a card printed instantly in-branch, both at no charge until March 31st! After March 31st, standard card fees will apply. Please see fee schedule.

Will my card information change if I get a Tap Pay card?

If you receive a ‘tap pay’ card in the mail, your card numbers will NOT change. However, if you receive an instant issue card that is printed in-branch, the numbers WILL change.

Do I have to upgrade my card to a Tap Pay card?

No, you do not have to upgrade your card until your current card expires. However, from now on, all debit and credit cards sent via mail or printed in-branch will be tap-enabled cards.

Will my current card still work?

Yes, your current card will still work until its’ expiration date. Once your card nears your expiration date, a new tap-enabled card will be sent via mail.

Why is Southwest adding Tap Pay?

Tap-to-pay is safer and more secure. It uses tokenization (replacing your card number with a unique code), so your card number is never actually transmitted during the payment. This makes it much harder for hackers to steal your information.
